Teacher Certification

As a result of an Order in Council, approved February 15, 2001, user fees are now required for a limited number of transactions processed by the Registrar-Teacher Certification office.

Effective April 1, 2011, the following user fees were approved:

Initial Certification Applications - $97.41

Renewal of Expired Teacher Certificates - $42.62

Duplicate Teacher Certificates - $42.62

Application for Change in Classification - $35.00

Statement of Professional Standing - $30.44

Nova Scotia Teacher's College transcripts - $5.49

The Teacher Certification Office is mainly responsible for:

  • initial certification of teachers

  • approval of all courses and programs for changes in teacher certification classification

  • creation and maintenance of teaching service records for individual teachers for salary purposes

  • recognition of teaching service for salary increment purposes for service completed outside the public schools of Nova Scotia.
